Hi, I’m Moritz. Glad you found your way here!

I’m currently a nature educator with a degree in landscape architecture and a passionate beekeeper dedicated to sustainable projects and environmental education. My focus is on connecting people with nature, fostering creativity, and developing concepts that make sustainable living tangible and accessible.

Whether it’s beekeeping, planting and caring for fruit trees, or sharing knowledge about animals and plants – I strive to harmonize people and the environment. Through my hands-on courses, innovative ideas, and creative approaches, I aim to make nature an experience and inspire positive change.

I also offer events and workshops to bring these ideas to life.

Haigerloch is located in the southern part of Baden-Württemberg and is home to approximately 11,000 residents. With a well-equipped school center as well as various recreational and sports facilities, the town offers an ideal environment for families. The A81 highway is less than a 10-minute drive away.

The surrounding area is characterized by agriculture. In addition to farmland, there are also several orchard meadows and forests that encircle Haigerloch like a green ring, providing a strong connection to nature. The town’s rugged river valleys, with their picturesque castle and neighboring woodlands, lend a unique charm to this beautiful location.

Feedback on the module: Classroom in the Green

The content of the orchard education is really great. Just right for the 3rd grade.

The children were enthusiastic. You saw for yourself how well they reacted to you.

They told us a lot at home and the parents were enthusiastic themselves.

It's a shame that there is nothing comparable for the 4th grade.

All topics were accepted without any ifs and buts.

The search for clues, discovering the meadow were special highlights.

Pressing apple juice was a very special experience.

I would implement the program in full without taking anything out and would recommend it to others. The children need a balance to the media. Many live in strange worlds. Some would otherwise think that animals only exist in the zoo and the meadow is only there to be mown or that vegetables only come from the shops. The children have you and Simone to thank for the fact that there are and were so many great things to discover.

Oh, and I completely forgot about beekeeping.

That was something very special. Thank you very much! Suggestions for improvement: None!

Keep it up!!!

Best wishes, Marta

Feedback on the module: Classroom in the Green

Hello, Moritz. It took a while but here is a text from all of us together.

The meadow orchard project is a wonderful initiative that not only brings joy to children, but also teaches them valuable knowledge and skills for the future. Activities such as making apple juice, looking for animal tracks, planting trees and sowing flower meadows are not only sustainable, but also promote a connection to nature and encourage children to participate actively.

We have been supporting the project for years, from grades 1 to 4, and we have always noticed how enthusiastic the children are. They learn something new in every unit, be it the technique of planting trees, sowing flowers or the processes behind apple juice production. They always enjoy what they do, enjoy the time outside in nature and develop a very special appreciation for ecological connections.

For social, ecological and educational reasons, we can only recommend this project. It promotes team spirit, environmental awareness and the practical skills of the children - an all-round useful and valuable offer!

Greetings, Susanne Sauter

Orchard and Garden Specialist

As a Certified Orchard and Garden Specialist (LOGL), I possess practical skills in managing fruit trees. My expertise lies in improving the health, usability, and yield of fruit trees through targeted care techniques, including:

  • Öschberg Pruning

A specialized pruning technique designed to shape trees for optimal sunlight exposure and proper ventilation. This promotes healthy fruit development while reducing the risk of diseases and pests.

  • Grafting

The art of combining parts from different trees to merge the best traits of both. This method is used to cultivate more resilient, productive, or specific apple varieties.

  • Pest and Fungal Management

Identifying and controlling pests and fungal infections that can affect fruit trees, using sustainable and environmentally friendly methods.

  • Preserving Old Varieties and Introducing New Breeds

Maintaining the diversity of heritage apple varieties is crucial for biodiversity and offers a wide range of flavors and uses. At the same time, we explore and promote new, disease-resistant varieties. Specialists are dedicated to cultivating and spreading a diverse selection of apple types.
